Day 28 - I created some messaging to promote my books, but the inner critic keeps stopping me from taking action

March 27th, 2024

Yesterday I got caught up and posted all of my journals to the blog. In doing so I was able to reconnect with the fact that I’m starting a new career.

I have a lot of skills I need to learn and I get to practice these new skills.

This part honestly, feels so hard and scary. I know it’s because my own worry bug inner critic does not want me to do this.

You can’t do this

The space to too crowded

You don’t even know where do you even begin

What’s the point

It will be so much easier if I just stood on the foundation of…

  1. I am here to practice

  2. This is new to me and this is my learning period

  3. I have a great book to share with the world

  4. This is my growth edge, I’m walking into the unknown and there is so much adventure out there for me.

These thoughts are so much more supportive then the worry bug thoughts that are trying to take over.

So not giving them any air time today.

I can do this.

My books are really good.

This is an important message and Lesson that all kids can benefit from.

Despite the fact that there is a lot of noise to bust through, I just get to keep showing up, being consistent and learning this new career.

As I think about this, I think about life 200 years ago. Every business was pretty much an entrepreneurial venture. It was the norm for people to work for themselves. They had to form relationships, build trust, credibility and I get to do the same thing.

Vision for the world: Everyone has the freedom to express themselves freely and share their unique gifts with the world.

This reminds me of the movie Gran Turismo. Based on a true story where a kid named Jann was in love with virtual racing. He was really good at it and had a chance to compete in a real race car. His dad along the way, told him he would never make a career out of racing so why even try. Why not just go to a safe job that was secure. He loved racing so much he pushed himself to his limit.

It’s a super inspiring movie.

I know yesterday I was like, is being an author really something I’m meant to do? Well I have free will, I can choose what I want to be. I’ve mentioned this before I loved reading, drawing, building, and pushing myself to my limits.

And how that manifests itself for me as an adult. To be an Author who illustrates her own books and builds a successful brand.

Ok so today’s plan:

  1. Treat this as if its my new career

  2. Get a version 1 of my messaging that I will be sending to people under my new branding direction

  3. Reach out to at least 10 people (im sure I can do more, but I’m just starting with a few for now)

Facebook Warm messaging

Audience: Facebook friends

Intention: Share my books with them

Omg this is so difficult for me! I keep distracting myself….. Literally like 45 minutes has gone by….

I will focus for the next 30 minutes on this. Closing all my tabs on my computer

And I think I’m going to take some of this to pencil and paper. Sometimes I just like to write the old fashioned way.

I’ll be back in a few minutes.

Outreach Flow to Moms I know on Facebook

Step 1: Introduction & Offer

"Hi, It’s been a while since we spoke! I hope you’re doing well! I wanted to reach out for 2 reasons.

1) to see how you are doing 2) to share that I’ve started writing kids books. My books teach lessons about negative self-talk (aka the inner critic) and how to overcome it. I’m giving out free PDFs copies of my book and I'd love to share one of my stories with you and your family. Would that be alright?"

Step 2: Engage & Offer More

Ok great! "I'm glad you're interested! Not only do I love supporting kids, I am also passionate about supporting moms too. Alongside my books, I’ve developed a special resource for moms. It's a step-by-step guide that mirrors the themes in my books. May I share it with you as well?"

Step 3: Deepen the Engagement

"It's wonderful to hear you've found value in what I've shared so far! If you're open to it, I'd love to invite you to dive even deeper into these ideas. Would you be interested in scheduling some time to explore how we can further support your journey and your family's growth?"

Step 4: Invitation to Connect

"Fantastic! Here’s a link to my calendar: [Link]. Let’s find a time that works for you to discuss more personally how we can tailor this adventure to your family’s needs and dreams. Looking forward to connecting and learning more about your aspirations!"

Best,

Krystal Lavender
