March 22, 2024
Well here we are. Day 23. It seems like I’m far along in the journey, but also the number 23 is still pretty small. I’ve got a long way to go.
I mean I really am just getting started.
Yesterday I spent several hours going through a brand building worksheet and identifying my niche.
It was a super helpful exercise to help me get clear on a lot of things. Things like mission, vision, purpose. While those things can seem simple, it took time to really get to a point of what I am creating with my brand.
Basically tying it all together. The pieces of the puzzle were there, and it's like the puzzle finally came together.
What I discovered yesterday is I want to support moms and kids. To provide them a place where they both can learn and grow together. Usually personal development is that “personal,” and to provide a place where moms and kids can develop together.
I picked moms because I am a mom. I mean there are plenty of dads out there who also want to work on their mind set too.
I could have my two different sites, but under one brand. Which I can get behind If I really wanted to do that.
Even though I started to settle in on the overarching brand, I’m still wondering if I am going too big right now and taking on too much.
Let me explain.
I have the opportunity to sell a training program that my friend made, which is really awesome. It really was a key thing that helped lay down the foundation of my confidence, self-worth. It is in alignment with my values and is a good product I can offer people. It’s got a really good commission plan and can support us in making some money until other channels start to take off.
Pros: Decent Commission Structure, Great Product, Exceptional Support, I can reach out to the same customer and talk about both products
Cons: Could potentially take time away from building Teddi Kathleen Brand
Well with that, I see way more pros than cons.
I’ll need to be hustling to get my books out there anyway, so this is a good way for me to share my books and share the training as well.
I see it as a big win-win.
Yesterday, I outlined all of my big goals that I want to accomplish, and then some smaller goals I wanted to accomplish yesterday. Well, yesterday, I got through one of four. I focused mostly on the brand building and did not get to the rest of the stuff. But that is ok, because I spent so much time on the branding, I can now start to work on my outreach messaging.
The personal outreach seems scary, at least a little bit. This will be cold outreach, but it will be necessary to get the snowball rolling.
That was something I picked up from that book 12 months to 1 million. He simply talked about getting the snow ball to roll as momentum picked up, and what I noticed I picked up on was that he was taking action to actually get the snowball started. On the contrary, he wasn't just creating a bunch of content that is packed with SEO (search engine optimization) and hoping it would go viral. He was out there hustling. Creating products that people wanted, spending time with customers and getting their feedback. He was out there, rolling the snow ball, and eventually it got so big, he had a million dollar business. He also had a partner to help him, so there’s that.
I say that because I’m grateful to have Sarah to partner with. She’s built brands and sold them, she’s the person to partner with.
And back to the outreach, of course it sounds scary. It’s not necessarily comfortable to reach out to people out of the blue, but there are people looking for this. And if anything I’m willing to form a relationship with people too. I think that will be my differentiator.
It actually makes me think of Susan. Susan entered my journey 3-4 years ago. I was struggling with confidence and it was debilitating me. I went in search of a career coach, but instead I found a hypnotherapist! Which was not what I was looking for at all, but was exactly what I needed. She and I worked together for a little while, and she’s just been there this whole time. She’s personable, she gives great information away for free, she’s warm, kind and so much more. If I were to buy any more services like this, I’d only go to Susan. No need to look elsewhere. Because she really cares and she proves that time and time again.
Here are the pros and cons to doing cold outreach.
Pros: Proactively getting my products and services out there, intentionally getting the snow ball rolling, getting real data on what is working what isn't working quickly
Cons: uncomfortable, takes time
There are so many more pros than cons to this one too. Yes it’s uncomfortable. Ok great, then that means I found my growth edge, and I get to go face it.
So many people don’t want to do cold calling, or cold outreach, because it’s uncomfortable. And I’m of the mind set that says, “let me do the stuff that's uncomfortable because it will help me grow and I'll learn about myself in the process”. I want to work with people who have that mindset.
With all of that, I’m going to be embarking on a journey to start cold reaching out to people.
I’m scared, my back is tensing up, and I’m going anyway.
Today, I will be working on my version 1 of the cold outreach path I will be taking.
If time allows, then I will also work on my list of people to reach out to.
My intention will be to begin outreach on Monday and kick things off from there.
Ok, well that is enough for now.
Much Love,
Krystal Lavender
